Unlawful driving results in accident and injuries on Interstate 5

On Behalf of | Jul 15, 2016 | Car Accidents

One individual suffered a serious injury after a three-car accident happened in the southbound lanes of Interstate 5. According to Washington State Patrol officers, the crash was caused by racing.

Allegedly, two vehicles were racing along Interstate 5 close to the Interstate 405 interchange just before 3 p.m. in Tukwila. As the vehicles came closer to S. 200th Street, they hit each other, and then they struck a third car.

The collision caused one of the racing cars to lose control and leave the freeway. That vehicle rolled on the shoulder of the interstate. That driver was rushed to a local hospital. Authorities say that the driver was in “serious condition.” The driver operating the other racing car was arrested on charges of suspected vehicular assault.

Fortunately, the driver of the third vehicle escaped injury unharmed. According to a police representative, the racing drivers were not being responsible in their actions and the way they were driving. Following the crash, half the interstate was blocked just as the evening commute was coming.

Anytime a serious car crash happens on a Washington interstate, authorities will investigate the incident to determine its cause. In the case of two racing drivers, when one driver is injured by the other driver, he or she might want to consider speaking with a personal injury attorney. Even though both drivers would allegedly have been breaking the law, it could be that the other driver is financially liable for the injured driver’s medical costs in certain situations. Indeed, every case is different and therefore drivers may wish to speak with a personal injury attorney following any serious accident that results in an injury.
