When a truck accident occurs in Washington…

On Behalf of | Feb 16, 2015 | Truck Accidents

The truck accidents that occur in Washington state are usually deadly. Not only are you dealing with a vehicle that is heavy and huge, but you are probably dealing with wintery conditions and traffic congestion. All these factors add up to serious injury and/or death.

To add safety to the road, the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) is committed to building an infrastructure that makes the roadways safer. While this takes vigilance and effort, the WSDOT is doubling its efforts to bring down the number of truck accidents that occur yearly. Sometimes though, no matter what efforts you or the government takes, you just can’t avoid the accident that happens. Through no fault of your own, you are hit by a truck whose driver is careless, tired or distracted. There are steps you can take after this type of accident.

One action you can take immediately is to call an attorney. This person will have your best interests in mind and will be able to ensure that you aren’t driven by the insurance company to take a low and quick payment for your pain, suffering and loss.

Many times, a simple highway improvement will make the difference between loss of life and a simple fender bender. The goal of the WSDOT is called “Target Zero.” It is meant to bring the number of fatalities on the highways and roadways of Washington to zero.

Many months of planning have gone into the “target zero” concept. It means individual roads and highways are upgraded, have lighted signs and warnings of what is ahead traffic-wise, and better police presence in high traffic areas.
