Kent, Washington, car accident leaves 1 dead

On Behalf of | Sep 5, 2014 | Car Accidents

Car accidents are not only disconcerting because they cause injury, but can be tragic because they can also cause death. For one 13-year-old girl, the car accident she was involved in was deadly.

On Saturday, Aug. 30, 2014, the girl perished and two other people were seriously injured in a heartbreaking accident.

On Pacific Highway South in Kent, Washington, a family of four people was crossing the road. When they were in the road, they were struck by a car. The accident occurred in the 23400 block of the highway that is south of the South Kent and Des Moines Road intersection at approximately 6:00 p.m.

The family was in a section of highway that did not have a crosswalk in the immediate area. The four people walked in front of a southbound car, and it appears that the car unavoidably hit them. This report comes from the Kent Fire Department and police department report.

The fire and rescue squad attempted to revive the 13-year-old girl but had no success. She was pronounced dead at the scene of the car accident. The father of the girl and another family member were also injured and were taken by ambulance to a local hospital for treatment.

The Fire Department reports that a third injured person was taken to the hospital but this remains unconfirmed by the Kent Police Department. The condition of the injured persons is not known at this time.

The driver of the car was not injured. He is said to be cooperating fully with the police.

The highway had two lanes of the southbound Pacific Highway South closed for a period of time while the accident was fully investigated.

The police say that there was a crosswalk not far away that if used may have prevented the girl’s death. This is only speculation and may not have been effective in preventing the death of the young girl.

If you or a loved one has been involved in a car accident and were injured, you may want to contact a legal professional who can guide you through the maze of legalities in the civil court system of Arizona. Every case is different and it may be a wise decision to have someone in your corner who can help.
