In Spokane County, Washington, a man was allegedly thrown out of moving logging truck in an accident that occurred on State Route 290 and involved another vehicle.
The Washington State Patrol stated that the accident happened near to the Idaho border on Wednesday, June 4, 2014. The crash happened early in the morning. The accident occurred east of Newman Lake, Washington, which is west of the Washington-Idaho border.
A Subaru driver failed to yield the right-of-way and slammed into the 18-wheeler in an intersection. The truck driver was not wearing his seat belt at the time of the accident and flew out of the truck. The driver of the Subaru was injured as well. Both people were taken to a nearby hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
The Washington State Patrol say they suspect that drugs or alcohol may have factored into the accident. The 21-year-old driver of the Subaru is being tested for alcohol and drugs in his system. He may face vehicular assault charges if he is found to be over the limit of .08 percent of alcohol in his system or a debilitating amount of drugs.
The highway, State Route 290, was completely blocked off for approximately three hours on Wednesday morning. It took the road crew that long to clear the wreckage and to reopen the highway to ongoing traffic.
